Chocolate Covered Mixed Nuts

This post is a quick hack for a delicious and easy dessert. All it requires is a warmer (also known as a Shabbat plata). You could melt the chocolate in other ways but this is so easy that it’s a shame not to do it.

Take any kind of nuts you like, they can be untoasted or toasted. I had a mix of hazlenuts, almonds and pecans in the house. Put them on a parchment line baking tray and place on your warmer. If the nuts are not toasted, leave them on for five minutes and gently flip over and they will toast.

Next, sprinkle with some kosher salt.

Next sprinkle with chocolate chips generously. It will start to melt.

Take a knife when it gets a bit melty and slather the chocolate over the nuts till coated and remove from warmer. This whole melting and slathering thing should take less than five minutes.

Let cool and break into clumps. Enjoy!

Chocolate Covered Mixed Nuts

1 cup of nuts, whatever you like, pecans, walnuts, hazlenuts, almonds
1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt
1/2 – 3/4 cup of chocolate chips

Directions:

Take a warmer also known as a plata, and take a parchment lined baking tray and put the nuts in an even layer on the parchment. If the nuts are untoasted, toast them about 5 minutes on each side.

Sprinkle with the salt and the chocolate chips. Wait just till the chocolate looks melty and spread with a knife till coated. Let cool, break into clumps and enjoy.
